A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on Sierra Highway near Via Princessa and taken to the hospital early Wednesday evening.

The incident happened shortly after 7:40 p.m.

“There was a call that went out for a vehicle versus pedestrian,” Sgt. Ericka Gooseberry of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, said around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday.

Paramedics with Fire Station 107 arrived at the scene three minutes after receiving the call.

“One patient was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital,” said Sky Cornell, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

First responders ended up transferring the bicyclist to a local area hospital with advanced life support services.

Paramedics left the scene at 7:57 p.m. and arrived at the hospital at 8:09 p.m., he said.

The incident marks the latest in a series of collisions this year that involve pedestrians and bicyclists being struck by motor vehicles.

There was no further information regarding the identity of either party, or the extent of the cyclist’s injuries, at this time.
