A person suffered a stab to the leg on Friday afternoon in Canyon Country and the suspect fled the scene, a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station official said.

At approximately 3:25 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 27500 block of Sierra Highway for reports of a stabbing, Sgt. Ryan Elsee said in a brief phone call with The Signal.

The suspect allegedly used a pocketknife and was described to be a Hispanic man approximately in his 40s, according to radio dispatch traffic and Elsee.

A live broadcast was issued for the suspect, who fled the scene of the incident, Elsee added, and at the time of this story’s publication an arrest hasn’t been made.

One person suffered a stab wound on the leg but was conscious at the time Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters arrived at the scene to treat the patient, Elsee added.

According to Edith Lai, a representative for L.A. County Fire, no transports were reported from the scene and only one patient was treated for injury.

The circumstances of the incident were not immediately known as deputies were still actively investigating and searching for the suspect, Elsee said.
