If you happen to know anyone who lost their phone at a recent break-in, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station has it, and they indicated an interest in speaking with the owner, based on court records.

A detective with the station’s Burglary and Robbery Bureau suspects that a phone was left behind on Aug. 7 or 8, during an August break-in on Yellowstone Lane in Canyon Country, according to his sworn statements in an effort to obtain a search warrant for the phone.

Two residents of the home came back from an overnight trip when they saw a man walking down the stairs, which prompted them to run from the house and drive to their mother’s home.

Apparently, they weren’t the only ones who left in a hurry, based on the court order.

The father of the two girls who came upon the home invader went to the home and noticed the suspect had left, but in his wake, several pieces of property were missing and a few items were left behind.

“Deputies cleared the location and observed multiple items on the kitchen counter that (the homeowner) stated did not belong to him or anyone in the house, including a black cell phone,” according to a statement of probable cause from the detective.

SCV Sheriff’s Station officials did not have any information regarding any arrests connected with their investigation as of this story’s publication.
