Los Angeles County firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed a mobile home and killed the resident’s two pets in Canyon Country on Friday night, according to a spokesperson with the agency.
First responders were dispatched to the 20400 block of Soledad Canyon Road following reports of a structure fire at approximately 8:15 p.m. and the first responding unit arrived in five minutes to a fully engulfed mobile home, according to Capt. David Dantic, with the L.A. County Fire Department.
Cause of the fire was the unknown as of the publication of this story, and it was currently under investigation, Dantic said, and no injuries were reported to either civilians or Fire Department personnel.
A GiveSendGo page was created for Karole Kopecky, owner of the mobile home, who not only lost all her belongings, but her dog and cat, as well.
Kopecky, who is a “selfless admin for [an] emergency group in SCV,” is reeling the loss of a “home filled with years of love and comfort, to a fire that swept through too quickly for them to salvage anything more than the clothes on their backs.”
As of the time of this story’s publication, Kopecky is unsure what the cause of the fire was, but believes it was due to an electrical issue.
L.A. County Animal Care and Control were called to the scene to possibly assist with a dog, but additional information was not available.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was not immediately available for additional comment.
