Two 18-year-old men were arrested Friday on suspicion of stealing $8,500 in cash from an individual in a car at a Valencia Bank of America branch, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The robbery reported in Valencia led to a felony traffic stop on southbound Interstate 5 late Friday morning, with two suspects being detained near Roxford Street, according to first responder radio dispatch traffic.

Sgt. R. Arambulo, who declined to give his first name, said the front passenger was arrested on suspicion of robbery, while the alleged “getaway driver” was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to the crime.

At 11:30 a.m., the informant called to report that two suspects stole $8,900 in cash from an individual in Valencia, per L.A. County Sheriff’s Department radio dispatch traffic. It’s not clear how the cash was stolen from the victim.

Arambulo said a deputy looking for the suspects saw the pair’s vehicle as it was getting onto the I-5. Deputies tracked the suspects on the interstate before conducting a felony stop near the Interstate 210 on-ramp, with the assistance of California Highway Patrol officers.

Arambulo said that the CHP was at the scene just before the traffic stop and assisted deputies with stopping southbound traffic. The suspects were detained at gunpoint.
