Calls to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were automatically re-routed to patrol station business phone lines Thursday night.

The LASD Information Bureau released a notification about the outage late Thursday evening. According to the press statement, the department was notified that a third-party public safety call handling platform, Vesta Systems, was experiencing an outage at about 6 p.m.

The release said the department had deployed electricians to work with Vesta Systems to fix the issue.

An update the next morning said service had been restored: “At approximately 3 a.m. (Friday), the Vesta System, a third-party public safety call-handling platform, began coming back online. At approximately 7:20 a.m., 9-1-1 service was fully restored at all Sheriff’s Department patrol stations.”

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Shirley Miller could not be reached for comment as of the publication of this story.
