A vehicle fire reported on the northbound side of State Route 14 near Escondido Canyon Road between Acton and Agua Dulce quickly spread to the brush and briefly threatened structures on Friday afternoon before forward progress was stopped, according to officials.

Dubbed the Rover Fire, the blaze began at approximately 2:40 p.m. from a truck fire, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokeswoman Pauline McGee. Forward progress was stopped a little after 3:20 p.m., according to the Watch Duty app and first responder radio dispatch traffic, and all evacuation warnings were lifted shortly after.

The truck involved in the blaze became fully engulfed, which then spread to the center divider and then spread to the nearby brush, which was described as light to medium fuels traveling east, according to McGee and the California Highway Patrol Incident logs.

The fire was estimated to have grown from 2 acres to 10, and evacuation warnings were issued for the Agua Dulce Airpark, the local airport, and zone LACE087, according to the Watch Duty app. The evacuation warning zones can be found at protect.genasys.com.

The fire also caused traffic delays of up to an hour for commuters traveling north toward the Antelope Valley, according to the SigAlert app. The shoulder at Sierra Highway and Red Rover Mine Road was backed up to Agua Dulce Canyon Road.

This is a developing news story and more information will be added as it becomes available.
