The L.A. County Fire Department responded to a brush fire Friday night near a Canyon Country intersection, extinguishing the blaze after a little over an hour on the scene.

The fire began near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Camp Plenty Road in the Santa Clara River wash, said Fire Department spokesperson Jonathan Torres. Firefighters were called at 11:42 p.m. and reached the scene at 11:55 p.m.

Torres said firefighters determined the fire was about 50 feet by 50 feet in size with no nearby structures at immediate risk and canceled helicopters that’d been deployed.

Units at the scene used water from a hydrant at a nearby street, and the fire was deemed no longer active at 12:12 a.m. The scene was closed about an hour later, Torres said.

Torres said firefighters weren’t able to conclude what caused the fire.
