After losing in the Foothill League volleyball opener to Valencia, the Hart Hawks have bounced back with back-to-back league wins, including a road victory over the Golden Valley Grizzlies on Thursday.
The Hawks defeated the Grizzlies in four sets, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19, and secured their second league win of the season.
“Every game is going to be a battle this year,” Hart head coach Robert Treahy said. “It seems like whoever has home court has the advantage, so it’s going to be a battle this year.”
After the Hawks (6-4, 2-1) secured the first-set win, the Grizzlies (4-9, 1-3) came out in the second with a higher tempo and battled back and forth with Hart.
By the end of the second, the Grizzlies pulled off the narrow win and tied the game at one set apiece.
After the game, Treahy said he told his team not to give up and that he believes his squad had what it took to win.
“Nothing comes easy. Golden Valley is a strong team,” he said of his message in between sets. “They’re not going to give up. So, we have to come back with resilience and fight.”
The Hawks completed the third-set win in narrow fashion and in the fourth set secured the victory with a six-point margin.
The Hawks completed their sixth overall win of the season and have six wins through the first 10 games of the season for the first time since the 2023 season.
Treahy added that the momentum is huge as his Hawks prepare to take on the West Ranch Wildcats on Tuesday.
“It’s super important, especially for a team that hasn’t had a lot of success for the last couple of years,” he said of the early-season momentum. “Hopefully, we’ll take this momentum and continue to build.”
The Hawks play West Ranch on Tuesday at home with the game set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
The Grizzlies will look to bounce back on Tuesday at home against the visiting Canyon Cowboys with the first serve at 5:30 p.m.
