A 32-year-old Santa Clarita Valley man has been arrested on suspicion of multiple felonies including attempted murder, domestic violence, criminal threats and parole violation after his he and his 31-year-old girlfriend got into a verbal argument on the 1800 block of Yosemite Avenue at a residence in Simi Valley in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the Simi Valley Police Department.
“During the verbal altercation, the suspect allegedly threatened to slit the victim’s throat and produced a knife, attempting to stab her in the neck. The victim was able to block the attack, sustaining a laceration to her hand in the process. The injury caused significant bleeding, prompting both parties to temporarily cease the confrontation,” according to the news release from Sgt. Rick Morton with the Simi police.
The release said the victim could not leave the residence due to fear, but later in the morning, was able to contact a family member to transport her to the hospital for treatment of her injury.
“While en route to the hospital, the Simi Valley Police Department was notified. Officers responded to the 1800 block of Yosemite Avenue and took the suspect into custody without incident. Crime scene investigators also responded to process the residence,” the news release said.
In a follow-up interview Wednesday morning, Morton said that Simi Valley Police Department Major Crimes Bureau detectives are actively investigating the scene as of the publication of this story.
The suspect is at the Ventura County Main Jail being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Inmate Search.
