News release
Science, discovery and hands-on fun are coming to Valencia Town Center this weekend as LEAP Santa Clarita Children’s Museum hosts its Summer Science Workshop on Saturday and Sunday at the mall.
The two-day pop-up experience will give local families a taste of what’s to come as LEAP (Learn, Experience, Act, Play) works toward building the first-ever children’s museum in the Santa Clarita Valley, said a news release from the nonprofit organization.
Designed primarily for children ages 6 to 12, the workshop will feature interactive science activities that encourage kids to experiment, create, problem-solve and learn through play.
“We want families to experience firsthand what LEAP is all about,” Carl Ermelbauer, president of the LEAP Museum, said in the release. “Our vision is to create a place where children throughout the Santa Clarita Valley can be curious, get their hands involved and discover just how exciting learning can be. This summer workshop is a chance to bring that vision to life while we continue working toward a permanent children’s museum for our community.”
The Summer Science Workshop will take place at Valencia Town Center, Space No. 235, outside on the patio across from Carter’s and next to lululemon. Sessions will be offered throughout both days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with 75-minute workshop time slots beginning at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Child tickets are $20 for children participating in the workshop activities, with ages 6 to 12 recommended. Activity stations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis within each session. Free activities will also be available for younger siblings ages 0 to 5, and adults and younger siblings do not require a ticket. All children must have an adult present at all times.
LEAP is committed to making the experience accessible to local families. Financial assistance is available for families for whom the $20 ticket price may be a barrier by contacting [email protected].
Space is limited for each workshop session, and advance reservations are encouraged.
