When a local sheriff’s deputy saw a pack of motorcyclists speeding through Saugus and running a red light Saturday, he was moved to make an arrest.

He detained two suspects only to discover that they were father and son.

Lars and Kenneth Svanoe, 47 and 25 years old respectively, were arrested Saturday after a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputy spotted the pair riding their motorcycles recklessly on Soledad Highway, said Lt. Brenda Cambra, who oversees the station’s Detective Section.

“The deputy saw a group of motorcycles traveling together at a high rate of speed,” she told The Signal.

“He saw two of the motorcycle riders enter the intersection after the light had turned red. The group continued down the roadway in excess of the speed limit.”

The deputy pulled the pair over and arrested them on suspicion of reckless driving, a misdemeanor.

Bail for the younger Svanoe was set at $5,000 and set at $31,000 for his father.

Both men posted bail and were released from custody shortly before midnight on the day they were arrested.

They are expected to appear in court at the Santa Clarita Courthouse.
