A solo big rig crash caused a SigAlert on the northbound 5 freeway at Gavin Canyon for nearly seven hours Monday morning, according to officials.

The solo crash was reported at 2:18 a.m. when a big rig collided with the freeway’s center divider.  The impact caused the big rig to jackknife and block the No. 3 and No. 4 lanes, CHP Officer Josh Greengard said.

About 20 gallons of diesel fuel leaked onto the roadway, but officials were able to clean the scene without a hazmat team.

The SigAlert remained in effect until 9:13 a.m. when all lanes were reopened.  Traffic remained slow and backed up from Gavin Canyon to the I-5 and I-210 connector.
