A motorist was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers in Valencia following a vehicle pursuit that zipped through Gorman and ended in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The driver of the blue Dodge Caravan minivan was originally wanted for wrong way driving in the Fort Tejon area, according to CHP Officer Eric Priessman.
The pursuit of the driver began in the Gorman area by the Bakersfield Police Department was handed off to Newhall CHP when the motorist approached the area.
The suspect reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour as he traveled southbound along Interstate 5.
He was stopped by CHP officers around 12:25 p.m. when he drove over a spike strip on the I-5 at Valencia Boulevard, according to Priessman.
All four tires were affected by the spike strip, causing the suspect to slow and surrender to authorities on the scene.
“The vehicle slowed down and he was taken into custody with no further incident,” Priessman said.
