Eighty gallons of diesel fuel spilled on Interstate 5 after a semi-truck hit the center divider while traveling northbound on I-5 at the scales in Castaic, according to L.A. Country fire officials.
The incident was reported to California Highway Patrol officials at 6:35 p.m. when officials began receiving 911 calls of the commercial vehicle collision on the northbound I-5 at Parker Road, according to CHP Officer Josh Greengard.
According to Greengard, the truck-tractor came to rest blocking the northbound and southbound No. 1 lanes of the freeway.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with minor injuries, according to CHP.
A SigAlert was issued for the northbound and southbound No. 1 and No. 2 lanes for approximately four hours to assist with the fuel spill cleanup and to remove the vehicle from the center divider.
Officials from CHP Newhall Area, Los Angeles County Fire Department and Caltrans responded to the collision and assisted with the cleanup.
Motorists were warned of the lane closures on the northbound and southbound lanes of the I-5 through activated CMS signs.
