This weekend, hundreds of community members dressed in their holiday best and visited professionally decorated homes to support the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation.
For more than three decades, the foundation’s Home Tour League has held a Preview Gala, Holiday Boutique and Holiday Home Tour to support the Women’s Services division of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
“This is their 36th year and they’ve raised almost a $1 million for women’s services,” said Laura Chesler, annual giving officer for the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation. “They are an amazing group of volunteers that put their heart and soul into this each year.”
Before Saturday’s home tour, community members attended a Preview Gala Friday night where they had a festive dinner at Valencia’s Tournament Players Club (TPC) and previewed the home decorations.
This year’s Holiday Home Tour featured four holiday homes in the Westridge community. Tami Reyna, president of Henry Mayo Newhall Home Tour League, said the homes in the tour are chosen based on referrals, word of mouth or volunteers.
“The people who attended the home tour really enjoyed it,” Reyna said. “The decorations were gorgeous and beautiful and made people say ‘wow.’”
Both Reyna and Chesler, consider the gala and home tour a success, with a surge in attendees at both events.
“Our gala especially was very popular,” Reyna said. “We had twice the number of people we normally have at the gala.”
All of the proceeds from the weekend activities will benefit the Women’s Services in the new Patient Tower at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
“Every thousand more we can give goes toward women’s services which will be relocated to the new tower when it’s finished,” Reyna said.
