The 11th annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Toy Drive was held in Newhall with hopes of bringing Christmas gifts to less fortunate children.
The spirit of the holidays is what brought Bill Baumgartner and his family to the toy drive that was held outside the Realty Executives office.
âWe came out to help kids in need,â Baumgartner said as he watched his two boys run up to the Star Wars characters that were greeting attendees. âWeâre pretty blessed to be where we are and there are others who are not as fortunate.â
Participants got the opportunity to not only give back, but to take a picture with characters from Star Wars, Princess Cinderella and Santa himself.
â(The kids) are excited to see anything Star Wars, said Baumgartner. âAnd of course Santa.â
The toys will be distributed to children in Los Angeles and Kern County shortly before Christmas.
âSanta Clarita really comes together,â said Stephanie Danyluk, the organizer of the event. âItâs heartwarming.â
âI wasnât in the holiday spirit until we actually came here and gave toys,â said Diane Brogan.
Brogan brought some bubble bath and a Razor scooter to give to a child that could use something extra in order to get excited about the holidays.
âItâs all about the children,â Brogan said.
