A $20,000 reward has been posted by county officials for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person responsible for the hit-and-run death of a 15 year-old girl in Canyon Country.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a recommendation Tuesday which called for posting a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of a suspect or suspects responsible for the fatal hit-and-run.
On December 26, 2016 at about 8:40 p.m., deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to an incident on Sierra Highway, South of Soledad Canyon Road.
A 15-year-old girl was crossing the street when she was struck.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The vehicle has been described as being gold, tan, or dark in color with a lowered front end. There may be possible damage to the hood or front end of the vehicle.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Division is seeking assistance from the public with information that may aid in their investigation of this crime.
Earlier this month, SCV Sheriff’s investigators asked for the public’s assistance in locating a man that was seen at the site of the hit-and-run prior to law enforcement’s arrival but then quickly left.
Detectives were interested in finding this individual so that he could be questioned as a witness to the hit-and-run.
Last week, detectives were able to make contact with the man who was at the scene of the hit-and-run. At this time however, there is no new information regarding the incident.
The hit-and-run vehicle is described as a late to early 90’s four-door sedan. It has been described as tan, gold, or dark-colored. The sedan has a lower front end and may have possible damage to the front end or hood.
