John Musella was installed as 2017 board chairman of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce at an installation dinner Friday evening at TPC Valencia. The event had a Hollywood backlot theme.
“I’m honored to be installed,” said Musella, president of The Musella Group, a public relations firm. “2017 is starting out to be a great year that we will use to grow and evolve our association into a world-class business organization.
State Sen. Scott Wilk introduced Musella. He and other incoming chamber officers were sworn in by Congressman Steve Knight.
The chamber presented its first-ever Public Service Award to Jason Crawford, the City of Santa Clarita’s planning, marketing and economic development manager. The award citation noted Crawford’s work in helping the SCV become “the true definition of Hollywood North.” The new award is meant to honor individuals who have brought awareness, prosperity, and service to the SCV.
Sue Nevius was honored with a Public Service Award, and Tom Broadway as Ambassador of the Year.
Each Members of Santa Clarita City Council presented an award.
Ed Masterson was presented the chamber’s Special Achievement Award. Also nominated were Patsy Ayala and Hunt Braly.
Valencia Acura won Large Business of the Year. Also nominated were Logix Federal Credit Union and Sierra Medical.
Wolf Creek Brewery won Medium Business of the Year. Also nominated were Andy Gump Temporary Site Services and Williams Homes.
California Bakery won Small Business of the Year. Also nominated were Applied Resources Insurance Solutions and Summit West PR & Marketing.
Outgoing Chamber Chairman Curtis Woods, manager of Eternal Valley Memorial Park, was thanked for his service. Assemblyman Dante Acosta introduced Woods.
Dave Bossert served as Master of Ceremonies, and Kevin James, chief film liaison for the City of Los Angeles, was keynote speaker.
