Bright colors wafted through the air, covering people’s faces and clothes during Holi, the Festival of Colors, at Santa Clarita Park on Sunday.
Some 300 people chucked colors at each other in honor of the holiday celebrated in India that symbolizes the coming of spring. The event was put on by a local cultural group called Swadeshi.
“We wear white…to symbolize winter and then all the color thrown on it is the coming of spring,” said Neha Kamboj, whose mother was the founder of Swadeshi.
Although Holi is a cultural holiday, the entire SCV community was invited to celebrate the festival.
“When we’re all covered in color, we’re all exactly the same,” said Kamboj.
