Attendees spent the day networking, sharing journeys and focusing on personal growth at the Women’s Conference held at College of the Canyons on Saturday.
The event featured various workshops, ranging from managing stress to an entrepreneur panel, vendors and various presentations.
“I believe in community, that’s why I’m here,” said Dawn Schiller, an attendee of the event who advocates for women’s rights, anti-violence and anti-trafficking.
“I’m here to meet new people and to join forces.”
Approximately 150 people attended the event to learn more about themselves, careers and different opinions.
Presenter Ruth Stanke held a makeup workshop, with a goal of making women feel beautiful from the inside out.
I want them to feel beautiful about themselves,” said Stanke.
“I’m hoping that this conference is just a breath of fresh air. I hope it gives us a second to appreciate what we have done and what we already have.”
The annual event features a new theme every year, with this events focus on “Inspiring Voices: Making a Difference in an Ever-Changing World.”
“This conference pushes you to meet different people and learn about new perceptions about life,” said attendee Mayura Kota.
Leslie Carr, who was on the planning board for the event, hoped that bringing community women together would expand horizons.
“They really get the chance to have a day to themselves,” Carr said. “For their own professional and personal growth that nourishes their soul. They walk away feeling refreshed and energized.”
