As the Castaic Lake Water Agency’s board of directors wrestles with some history-making decisions, not the least of which involves the formation of one new all-encompassing water agency, it will soon be losing one of its longstanding members.
William “Bill” Pecsi, who joined the CLWA board back in 1998 and who was re-elected in November to a seat representing Division 3, is resigning from his post as vice president of the board, he told The Signal Friday.
“I’m resigning from my post as vice-president, as a board officer,” he said.
Then, sometime after that, Pecsi will vacate his seat as a board member, he said, a move which would likely prompt the board to interview people to replace him.
“Eventually, I will leave, then the board has the option of appointing someone,” he said. “They’ll likely make an appointment by interviewing people.”
Pecsi told The Signal Friday that he expects to officially inform the board of his intentions to resign from his post as vice-president at the board’s regular meeting Wednesday, Apr. 12.
Pecsi said he and his wife put off plans to move to Arizona after their daughter became ill.
“With God’s blessing, we’re all clear of that,” he said about the illness.
After receiving news of his daughter’s clean bill of health, he and his wife again set their sights on Arizona and put their Santa Clarita Valley house on the market.
“Within 10 days we had an offer,” he said.
Pecsi said he wanted to notify the board promptly about his decision to resign as VP in an effort to create “a more stable environment” as the board remains poised to make key decisions in the next little while.
“I love his community,” Pecsi said. “I regret not being able to see the closing out of the agency and the formation of the new agency .”
