05/08/17

Grand Theft – 24300 block Magic Mountain Parkway
Person(s) unknown placed a false ad for a home rental online. A woman who was interested in renting the home electronically transferred $1,200.00 to the suspect’s account. The victim later learned that the home in question was actually for sale, and the owners had no knowledge of who the suspect was.

05/11/17

Domestic Violence / Vandalism – Country Road / Hillsborough Drive
A man and woman were involved in an argument and the man hit the woman several times, then shattered the passenger side window of her vehicle. The male adult was arrested for domestic violence and vandalism.

05/12/17

Grand Theft – 23600 block Valencia Boulevard
A M/W stole the victim’s laptop computer off of a table that he left unattended while he used the bathroom.

Grand Theft (Shoplifting) – 24100 block Magic Mountain Parkway
Two male adults (NFD) took 37 pairs of Levi’s Jeans from the display and exited the store without paying for the items.

Petty Theft – 28000 block Daydream Way
Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s purse containing her debit/credit cards and $100.00 in U.S currency which was left unattended in her unlocked vehicle.

05/14/17

Burglary (Vehicle) – 24200 block Valencia Boulevard
Person(s) unknown shattered the rear passenger window of his vehicle and stole a Canon digital camera, Canon lens, and a women’s shirt.

Theft by Access Card / Burglary (Vehicle) – 24000 block Newhall Ranch Road
Person(s) unknown smashed the passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole her purse containing her wallet and credit/debit cards. Person(s) unknown then used the victim’s credit/debit card to make purchases at Walmart.

Petty Theft – 24600 block Avignon Drive
Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s iPhone, ‘Mag Light’ flashlight, wireless keyboard, and $2.00 in U.S. currency which he had left unattended in his unlocked vehicle.

05/15/17

Grand Theft (Auto) – 25600 block Rye Canyon Road
Person(s) unknown stole the victims’ white 2015 Ford E-350 Van which was parked in the parking lot of the location.

Tip of the Week: Would You Keep Your Money in a Glass Bank?
Would you ever consider keeping your money in a bank with no vault and surrounded by glass walls? Most of us would surely say ‘no’. But the fact is, when we leave high valued items in our vehicles, that’s exactly what we are doing. Vehicles are not a reliable and safe way to secure money, computers, cell phones, purses, back packs, or any high value item. When these items are left in plain view, a thief needs only to smash a window to gain access and take the item. We are then not only inconvenienced by the loss of the item, but we will also have to deal with repairing our vehicles. Whenever the opportunity allows, take all high valued items with you whenever leaving your vehicle unattended. If this is not an option, leave the items in the trunk and out of view.
