A 52-year-old man was arrested in connection to a shooting that took place in Newhall on July 26, according to Deputy Mariela Picard with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
According to Picard, deputies responded to the 23400 block of Lyons Avenue around 8 p.m. on the night of the incident. The man, who is a Bakersfield resident, was allegedly in a white sedan driving behind the victim before opening fire in the area of Apple Street and Maple Street, according to Picard.
The victim’s vehicle was struck and damaged by the gunfire. It is unclear what the relationship between the victim and suspect was.
“Deputies recovered a fired bullet and spent 9mm shell casing from the scene. Detectives later developed information regarding to suspect vehicle, which led them to identify and locate [the suspect],” Picard wrote in an email to The Signal.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday and booked at the SCV Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of attempted murder.
No injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
