A local couple was arrested Saturday on suspicion of mail theft after allegedly breaking into a Canyon Country business.
Vanessa Wilson, 25 years old, of Newhall and Jacob Almeida, 23 years old, of Canyon Country, were arrested Saturday morning, about 8:30 a.m., for allegedly attempting to break into a commercial building’s storage room and mailboxes on the 18300 block of Dolan Way in Canyon Country.
“The duo were arrested by responding deputies on the charges of attempt burglary, attempt mail theft, and possession of burglary tools,” Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station told The Signal Monday.
“They were transported and booked at SCV Sheriff’s Station,” she said.
According to Sgt. Chris Maurizi, SCV Sheriff’s Burglary/Theft Team, detectives do not believe that the two are part of any mail theft ring.
Each suspect had bail set at $20,000.
