One woman was killed after she crashed into the center guardrail along the southbound 5 freeway just north of Vista Del Lago Wednesday.
The solo traffic collision occurred at 12:06 p.m. when the dark blue van hit the center divider.
“It came in as a dark blue van that had struck the center guardrail and the reporting party said it looked like she might have been having some kind of seizure,” California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Priessman said.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene and tried to perform “lifesaving procedures” on the woman, according to Priessman.
“It looks like she passed away at the scene,” he said.
Following the incident, CHP issued a Sigalert at 12:54 p.m. for an unknown duration in the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes of the southbound 5 freeway.
Officers later reduced the Sigalert to one lane, when they opened up the No. 2 lane at 2:02 p.m.
