Fatality investigation underway on Canyon Country freeway on-ramp

California Highway Patrol officers are conducting an investigation into how a pedestrian was killed on a freeway on-ramp in Canyon Country.

A call was received by 911 operators at 9:48 p.m. to report a collision at the Via Princessa on-ramp to southbound State Route 14, according to CHP Officer Tony Polizzi of the Los Angeles Traffic Management Center.

Responding units from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station sealed off the area to motorists after discovering a body along the north side of the incline.

A SIGAlert was issued for the ramp at 10 p.m., Polizzi said.

CHP units arrived on scene a short time later and assumed command.

No additional information was released.
