An SUV pulling a trailer overturned on the southbound 5 freeway Monday morning, prompting delays and causing a SigAlert for four lanes of the freeway.

The incident occurred at 10:47 a.m. when a Lexus SUV pulling a trailer overturned in the middle lane of the southbound 5 freeway at Templin Highway.

As a result of the incident, officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a SigAlert for four lanes of the freeway—the No. 1 through No. 4 lanes—as crews worked to clear the crash.

CHP Officer Josh Greengard said officers will divert all lanes to the center median to allow cars to pass the incident.

“Hopefully in the next hour or two, they’ll open the number one lane,” Greengard said.

As of 11:15 a.m., traffic along the southbound 5 freeway was backed up to Vista Del Lago.
