The Saugus Union School District announced Wednesday that its Governing Board is establishing a committee to advise the district and board with the development of policies and procedures relating to the sale or lease of surplus property owned by the district.
This Surplus Property 7-11 Advisory Committee will consist of seven to 11 community members who live in the Saugus District and represent various community sub-groups.
Members of the committee will be representative of one of the following: the ethnic, age group and socioeconomic composition of the district; the business community; landowners or renters; teachers; administrators; parents or guardians of students; and persons with expertise in environmental, legal, construction and/or land use planning.
Superintendent Joan Lucid said the advisory committee will provide input to the district and ensure that the district is following legal requirements.
The 7-11 Advisory Committee is expected to meet four to five times to complete its review and recommendations to the district’s Governing Board.
Tentative meetings for the committee are set for Oct. 24, 2017, Nov. 14, 2017, Jan. 30, 2018 and Feb. 13, 2018.
Applications for the committee are now available and will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Sept. 15. The applications are available at the district office, located at 24930 Avenue Stanford, and online at www.saugususd.org.
An informational meeting for those interested in applying will be held Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Governing Board meeting room at the district office.
A district selection committee is expected to meet, review applications and make recommendations to the Governing Board in October.
