One of two men allegedly involved in a fight near the Newhall Metro Link Station Tuesdsay faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, in this case a pole.

Cory Larry, 30, an unemployed man who lives in Palmdale, was arrested shortly before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon by deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Larry was allegedly one of three men near the Metrolink when the fight broke out, Lt. Ignacio Somoano told The Signal Wednesday

“The suspect, his friend and the victim -not known to the two other males – engaged in an argument on the 24300 block of Main Street, in Newhall,” Somoano said.

“Mr. Larry eventually armed himself with a pole and struck the victim on the head,” Somoano said.

The victim suffered an injury requiring medical aid.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department took the victim to the hospital, Inspector Gustavo Medina told The Signal Tuesday.

The suspect was located nearby and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

The second male, who was in the company of the suspect, was not arrested, Somoano said.

Larry remains in custody with bail set at $30,000.

He is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court Thursday.
