The City of Santa Clarita’s annual “Light Up Main Street” holiday event returns to Old Town Newhall on Saturday, November 18 at 6:00 p.m. To make way for the beloved holiday tradition, a pair of road closures will be in effect beginning in the early afternoon.

Lyons Avenue, between Walnut Street and Railroad Avenue, will be closed from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. In addition, Main Street in Old Town Newhall will be closed between Lyons Avenue and Market Street from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Detour signage will direct drivers around closures, as well as toward parking areas for Light Up Main Street. Parking will be available at the Newhall Metrolink Station, Newhall Community Center, Old Town Newhall Library, William S. Hart Museum and the parking lot on the corner of Main Street and 6th Street in Newhall. As parking spaces will be limited, residents are asked to carpool or walk to Light Up Main Street if possible.

A courtesy shuttle will be available from the Newhall Community Center to Main Street and will run continuously from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Prior to Light Up Main Street, the merchants of Old Town Newhall will hold their yearly Sip N’ Shop event from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Participating businesses will offer discounts and attendees will be able to enjoy appetizers, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.

From 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the community is also invited to attend a free event at the Newhall Metrolink Station (24300 Railroad Ave.) as Metrolink introduces its new Tier 4 Clean-Power Locomotive. Activities include kids’ crafts, face painting, a photo booth and a raffle for Metrolink tickets.
