Various streets, mostly surrounding Valencia Town Center, were closed on Sunday in order to accommodate the 22nd annual Santa Clarita Marathon.

Streets were closed on a rolling basis, and will reopen throughout the day on Sunday.

Closed as of 10:45 p.m. Sunday

Magic Mountain Parkway from McBean Parkway to Auto Center Drive will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic is blocked off in both directions.

The Cinema Parking Structure, just adjacent to the finish line, will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Estaban Drive, in the neighborhood behind Granary Square, is open to traffic – however city officials ask residents to watch for runners until 11:30 a.m. as they cross the street onto the paseos.

The marathon course covers parts of the West River Trail, South Fork Trail, Commuter Trail, Valencia Paseos and San Francisquito Trail, and trail users are encouraged to avoid bumping into runners and to exercise caution all day.

Streets reopened to traffic

McBean Parkway from Magic Mountain Parkway to Valencia Boulevard was closed from 5 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.

Portions of Valencia Boulevard were detoured onto Citrus Avenue from 6 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.

Although the roads were not closed, drivers faced delays on Avenue Scott, Avenue Stanford, Avenue Rockefeller, Anza Drive and Avenue Hopkins from 7 a.m. to approximately 8:30 a.m. as the race wound its way through the industrial center.
