To receive additional perspectives from the public, the Saugus Union School District is asking the community to participate in the district’s ongoing superintendent search process.
On Monday night at Bridgeport Elementary School, the district is holding a public meeting with its superintendent search firm McPherson & Jacobson LLC to solicit input from the area’s residents, parents, employees and students.
Led by consultant Ben Johnson II, the meeting will include a discussion about the superintendent-selection process and about the qualifications, characteristics and attributes important to next superintendent.
For those who cannot attend the district’s public meetings with its search consultants, the Saugus district created online surveys in English and in Spanish for the community to respond to.
The surveys include questions about the good things in the community, the good things in Saugus schools, the issues the next superintendent should be aware of, and the skills or qualities the new superintendent should possess.
McPherson & Jacobson’s commitment to transparency to the Saugus district community was one of the main reasons the district’s Governing Board selected the consulting firm Feb. 6.
The search firm works in five phases and continuously works with the district’s staff and school communities to receive their input on the superintendent search process.
“The things you look for is what their availability is to this board, how their community outreach is to our stakeholders which are our employees and our school communities,” Board Member Judy Umeck said during a discussion about potential search firms at the Feb. 6 board meeting.
The community input meeting will be held at Bridgeport Elementary School, located at 23670 Newhall Ranch Rd., on Monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
