Acorn Hardwood Flooring, which has served the Santa Clarita Valley since 1979, won a prominent award last month from the National Wood Flooring Association.

In a competition that featured 55 entries from among the NWFA’s 3,100 member companies across the world, Acorn Hardwood Flooring claimed first place in the Best Circular/Curved Application category in the Wood Floor of the Year Contest. It’s the company’s first NWFA award.

The Wood Floor of the Year Contest, initiated in 1990, was developed to encourage and recognize innovative craftsmanship and design, according to a NWFA news release.
The Acorn Hardwood Flooring factory and appointment-only showroom are located in Sylmar, though a “good portion of our clients are from the Santa Clarita Valley,” co-owner Donna Glasnow said. To make an appointment, call 661-255-9663.

Glasnow and her husband, Greg, also own and operate Aged Timber. The website is www.agedtimber.net.

The award was announced April 13 at the annual NWFA Expo in Florida.
