La Luna Healing will provide a space for children and teenagers to open up about their pain, fear and anxieties with through the Teen Empowerment workshop in Newhall on Saturday.

The concept behind this workshop came from women’s empowerment groups meeting at La Luna Healing, said owner Kiara Akasha.

“I created it for other women to be around each other and (face one another), talk and communicate with people who weren’t judging them,” she said. “I have many teens disclose what’s going on with having a difficult time in school. They feel that their parents don’t understand them.”

Akasha sympathized with the young people who take part in Teen Empowerment. She said going to high school was a horrible experience for her, and she wanted to provide something to the community to help young people feel relieved, less anxious and supported.

The small space, big enough for 15 young people, helps those who attend feel safe and comfortable with sharing whatever problems they might have, Akasha said.

The price of admission will be $15. To learn more about this and other workshops, go to lalunahealing.com/ or call 661-347-1797.

La Luna Healing is located at 23236 Lyons Ave.
