A Shelby Cobra kit car was involved in a solo crash on Saturday morning in Valencia.

Just before 9 a.m., the vehicle lost control and hit a concrete light pole on Magic Mountain Parkway just west of Bouquet Canyon Road, according to Lt. Leo Bauer of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The Cobra’s driver and passenger complained to deputies on the scene about having leg and back pain, so both men were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with minor injuries as a result of the crash, Bauer said.

Although the exact cause of the crash is unknown, the vehicle sustained significant front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene, according to Bauer. The light pole was knocked down as a result of the crash.

Traffic was brought to a halt on westbound lanes of Magic Mountain Parkway between Bouquet Canyon Road and Valencia Boulevard for a short time as sheriff’s officials worked to clear the wreckage.

After it was struck by the vehicle, the light pole fell and had to be removed from the road before it was reopened to oncoming vehicles. Courtesy of Bill Hill
