The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce recently announced Nancy Starczyk, of Realty Executives, as second-term chair of the board of directors for 2020 and John Vance, of Vance Wealth Management, as chair-elect, becoming chair of the board in 2021.

“Having a second term allows me a chance to continue working towards and maintaining continuity for our chamber,” Starczyk said. “Our political advocacy has been critical to small and large businesses alike — after all, we are the ‘voice of business’ in Santa Clarita. We have been very pleased to take an active role and make an impact in this arena, and we hope to ramp that up.”

During Starczyk’s first term, the chamber focused on advocacy efforts, membership, creating a financial reserve account, launching the new Small Business Council and creating new value-driven programming for members.

“Having been newly elected to the board this year and now to become chair-elect for our chamber that has built a strong reputation is an honor,” Vance said in the statement. “The full board, executive team and our management company have put so much effort into building a strong and successful chamber, and I am pleased to lead the charge in 2021.”

Vance, who has been a chamber member for 15 years, currently serves on the finance committee as well as chair of the chamber’s annual golf tournament. He was first appointed to the board earlier this year and is expected to serve on the chamber’s 2020 executive committee.

“With the momentum that Nancy has created for the chamber, we believe that the continuity of her leadership was important so she could further build on her successes,” Ivan Volschenk, managing partner at Evolve Business Strategies, which manages the SCV Chamber, added in the statement. “We have been strategically building the chamber to best meet the needs of our members and we are only getting started.”

The chamber also recently opened the nominations period for the 2019 Santa Clarita Valley Business Choice Awards to be presented in January with the installation of the new board.

Nominations for the awards, whose categories include rising star, entrepreneurial spirit and business of the year, are set to close Dec. 6 with honorees announced the week of Dec. 16.

The chamber is set to install the new board and present the awards on Friday, Jan. 24, at its 97th annual Awards & Installation Dinner. For more information, visit scvchamber.com, or to vote, visit scvbizawards.com.
