Fowlkes graduates from Troy University 

Nicholas Fowlkes, of Stevenson Ranch, graduated from Troy University during the spring semester of the 2024-25 academic year. 

Fowlkes graduated with a bachelor of science degree in interdisciplinary studies. 

Troy University, in Alabama, is a public, international university with 22,500 students and 154,000 alumni. Students on the Troy, Ala. campus enjoy a traditional college experience, while adult students are the centers of attention at campuses in Dothan, Montgomery and Phenix City, Alabama, as well as at locations around the world and online. 

Dom Puglisi named to dean’s list at Grove City College 

Dom Puglisi, a junior English major from Santa Clarita, has been named to the dean’s list with high distinction at Grove City College for the spring 2025 semester. 

Students eligible for the dean’s list have a GPA of 3.40 to 3.59; for the dean’s list with distinction a GPA of 3.60 to 3.84 and for the dean’s list with High Distinction a GPA of 3.85 to 4.0. 

Grove City College is a comprehensive Christian liberal arts college in Grove City, Pennsylvania. Established in 1876, the college is an independent private institution and accepts no federal funds. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 70 majors on a 180-acre campus north of Pittsburgh. 

Joey Negrete named to Ohio University’s spring 2025 dean’s list 

Ohio University Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts student Joey Negrete, of Valencia, has been named to Ohio’s spring 2025 dean’s list. 

The dean’s list recognizes undergraduate students who complete a particular semester with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.999 with a minimum of 12 credit hours attempted for letter grades that are used to calculate GPA. 

In spring semester 2025, approximately 6,700 Ohio University undergraduate students qualified for the dean’s list.  

Ohio University, in Athens, Ohio, is a Carnegie R1-classified research-intensive institution emphasizing the advancement of knowledge in the natural and biomedical sciences, humanities and arts and engineering. 

Local students earn spring honors at Alabama 

A total of 14,289 students enrolled during spring semester 2025 at The University of Alabama were named to the dean’s list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the president’s list with an academic record of 4.0 (all A’s). 

Local student earning honors include: 

• Alex Bonfiglio, of Canyon Country, was named to the presidents list. 

• Brooke Davis, of Castaic, was named to the presidents list. 

• Kailee Velasco, of Santa Clarita, was named to the presidents list. 

• Daniel Douglas, of Valencia, was named to the deans list. 

• Kirsten Troedel, of Valencia, was named to the presidents list. 

• Laney Giordano, of Valencia, was named to the deans list. 

• Sofia Degl’Innocenti, of Valencia, was named to the deans list. 

The University of Alabama, part of The University of Alabama System, is the state’s flagship university. UA provides over 200 degree programs on its Tuscaloosa campus. 

Ali Mounir graduates from Newman University  

Newman University officials have announced the students who completed the requirements to earn a degree at the close of the 2025 spring semester, including Ali Mounir, of Santa Clarita. 

2024-25 graduates were honored during the university’s 108th commencement ceremony on May 17, at Park City Arena in Wichita, Kansas. 

Mounir graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business data analytics. 

Evan Braun named to dean’s list at Miami University 

Evan Braun, of Valencia, was named to the dean’s list at Miami University (Ohio) for the 2025 spring semester. 

Miami University students who are ranked in the top 20% of undergraduate students within their division for the 2025 spring semester have been named to the dean’s list recognizing academic performance. 

Miami University is a public university located in Oxford, Ohio, with a student body of over 22,600 undergraduates and 2,200 graduate students. 

Established in 1809, Miami University has been ranked among the top 50 national public universities by the U.S. News & World Report. Miami offers more than 100 areas of study and 78 master’s and doctoral degree programs.
