A man was arrested on suspicion of committing a robbery that occurred on Sept. 6 around 1:40 a.m. on the 23700 block of Lyons Avenue in Newhall, according to officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
A man reported that the suspect approached him and a friend behind a business, according to an email statement by Shirley Miller, a spokeswoman with the station.
The suspect brandished a knife and took the victim’s fanny pack that reportedly contained over $5,000 in cash, the statement said.
The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle after taking the bag, according to the statement.
On Wednesday, the victim contacted the station and reported spotting the suspect, the statement said.
Deputies located and detained the suspect near the intersection of Lyons Avenue and Atwood Boulevard in Newhall, according to the statement.
He was arrested on suspicion of felony robbery charges and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, the statement said.
