A Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputy was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital after a collision Monday in Valencia during an emergency response.
L.A. County Fire Department officials confirmed the deputy was the only person taken from the scene for medical treatment.

The deputy’s patrol car was driving with lights and sirens to a “person not breathing” call, according to Deputy Dakota Whitaker of the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
He did not have the circumstances of the crash immediately available, as it was still under investigation. There was no information available regarding the nature of the deputy’s identity or the deputy’s injuries.
At the scene of the collision, the deputy’s patrol car came to a stop in the middle of the intersection on Newhall Ranch Road in front of the street sign for where Rye Canyon Road turns into Copper Hill Road.
The second car involved, a dark-colored Honda CRV, came to a stop on the sidewalk on Newhall Ranch Road, just past the intersection, facing the same direction as the patrol vehicle.
Fire officials, who arrived at the crash four minutes after it was reported at 1:52 p.m., said the report from the scene only indicated one person was treated for injuries.
