COVID cases are rising again in California. Older adults are especially vulnerable, so, as a doctor, I strongly recommend they wear a mask. Since the virus spreads through the air, a mask can effectively filter out the virus when you breathe.
There will be some who want “evidence-based” statistics to verify this recommendation; the proof is readily available on the internet.
Still for those non-believers, should you trust those who have turned this into a political football, if you need surgery soon, tell your doctor and nurses in the operating room that they don’t have to wear masks and see how daring you are.
