A multivehicle crash involving a motorhome with reported injuries shut down the southbound side of State Route 14 in Acton and caused traffic jams as far as the Angeles National Forest on Thursday morning, according to officials.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol received reports of a multivehicle crash involving a motorhome in the southbound side of SR-14 near Soledad Canyon Road at approximately 10:09 a.m., said CHP Antelope Valley office assistant Victoria, who declined to provide her last name, during a brief call with The Signal.
The multivehicle crash possibly involved four vehicles, according to the CHP Incident logs, but Victoria could not confirm that information.
One person was extricated from one of the vehicles involved in the crash and another person was transported to a nearby hospital via ground units in unknown condition, said Fred Fielding, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
First responders arrived at the scene of the collision at 10:23 a.m., approximately 10 minutes after initial dispatch time, he added.
Information on how the crash occurred was not immediately available as of the publication of this story, according to Victoria, but a SigAlert was issued for an hour at 10:37 a.m. so officers and first responders could continue to clear the scene, she added.
All lanes were reopened at 11:59 p.m., according to the incident logs.
The crash caused traffic jams into the Angeles National Forest and through roads including Sierra Highway and Santiago Road, the incident logs stated, and some motorists were even seen traveling the wrong way on the onramp in an attempt to get out of the congested traffic.
