Jack Crawford | Missing Decorum at All Levels

Over the past several weeks much has been written and said about the drama that has played out in recent City Council meetings. There have been claims of name calling, personal attacks, unsubstantiated allegations, backroom deals, inappropriate language and lack of transparency. Without naming names or pointing fingers, let me just say I fully agree there is no place in these meetings for such actions.

In spite of all the uproar, I have yet to hear even one commenter make reference to similar actions taking place in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., the latter of which has degenerated to the point where it occurs on a daily basis, at the highest office, and has essentially become the norm for communicating among our political leaders.

I long for a day when respect, decorum and common decency return to the public arena. We deserve better at all levels of government, so let’s try to do better, at least in our own little corner of paradise.
