A person suspected of making terroristic threats was detained at gunpoint and taken into custody near the Newhall exit of southbound State Route 14 on Thursday afternoon, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.

At approximately 2:10 p.m., deputies patrolling the area observed a vehicle that matched the description of a person detectives were searching for who was wanted for terroristic threats, Watch Sgt. Jerome Gage said.

The suspect was also possibly carrying a firearm, according to radio dispatch traffic, which prompted deputies to perform a traffic stop on the suspected vehicle near the southbound side of SR-14 and the Newhall exit, he added.
