The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station briefly closed to the public Sunday evening and diverted calls to the La Crescenta Sheriff’s Station after an “ordnance” was turned into the station, according to L.A. County Sheriff’s Department officials.
The device that prompted the concern was handed in around 7:20 p.m., according to Sgt. Daniel Padilla of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
There was no confirmation of the nature of the device Sunday, according to Padilla, who said the situation was “Code 4,” or considered no longer emergent as of 8:30 p.m.
Padilla said the move was believed to be precautionary based on the information available.
Traffic was being diverted near Golden Valley High School, according to station officials.
Normal station operations appear to have resumed as of 8:45 p.m.
