Question: Good morning, Robert. I am new to Santa Clarita and have just purchased a new (to me) home. This home is perfect for us, including the kitchen where there are quartz countertops. My friend has mentioned your article many times and I’ve finally read it quite a bit. I do need some advice, please, if you know what to do. I want to give these quartz countertops a good cleaning but I’ve heard that chemicals can be damaging to quartz. How do I clean and sanitize without chemicals? Any information you can give me, I’d be grateful for. Thank you.

Answer:
Lynn, congratulations and welcome to Santa Clarita. Quartz is easy. Get a good-quality spray bottle and fill it halfway with rubbing alcohol. Add one drop of dish soap (only a drop — you don’t want to leave soap residue on your counter). Fill the bottle with water, giving it a good mix. Use this for all cleaning and sanitizing. It’ll work great. Good luck in your new home.
