In response to Lois Eisenberg’s “What is America’s Excuse” letter in the Oct. 3 edition of The Signal:

The first sentence in your letter to the editor is, “Great Britain has not had a single school shooting since 1996.” This is a true statement. But you finish the sentence by saying “due to their strict gun control program.” That is conjecture, not a proven fact. The last sentence in your letter is, “The million-dollar question is, “What is America’s excuse for not having gun control?” Lois, you mean to tell me, there are no gun control laws on the books of federal and state governments? Really? That’s a false statement! So Lois, I am interested to hear your specific recommendations for increased gun controls and please connect the dots as to why your recommendations will indeed eliminate mass shootings in the U.S.
