Hart alum Tyler Glasnow shined in the Dodgers’ win over the Phillies on Thursday as the Santa Clarita native struck out eight across six innings pitched and allowed no runs.

Glasnow, who made his first postseason start for the Dodgers, was unable to play in last season’s postseason run that saw Los Angeles win the World Series over the New York Yankees.

This year, Glasnow remained healthy to make the postseason roster and pitch in game four of the National League Division series against the Philadelphia Phillies in what was widely viewed as a must-win game for Los Angeles.

Following a loss to the Phillies in game three, the Dodgers needed to win at home to avoid a series-deciding game five on the road, and with questions surrounding the Dodgers bullpen, Glasnow’s name was called.

The Santa Clarita native was pulled from his start before the seventh inning with a pitch count of 83 and was replaced by Emmet Sheehan.

Sheehan allowed a run in the seventh inning, which tied the game and eventually forced the game into extra innings.

In the end, Roki Sasaki threw three perfect innings, and the Dodgers clinched the series win in walk-off fashion following a throwing error from Phillies pitcher Orion Kerkering in a bases-loaded situation that resulted in Hyeseong Kim crossing the plate in the 11th inning.

After the game, Glasnow was asked by reporters and was quoted in an article by Major League Baseball about his start and what wearing Dodger blue in the playoffs meant for him.

“It means everything. It’s been a dream of mine to not just play for the Dodgers but play meaningful games in the postseason. It just feels incredible,” he said.

With the win, the Dodgers advance to the National League Championship Series and await the winner of the series between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers.
