The forecast for the Santa Clarita Valley is expected to pick up with about 2 to 4 inches of rain starting Thursday afternoon until Saturday, according to National Weather Service officials.
There will be a minor break on Friday afternoon, but residents should expect more rain than not, according to Ryan Kittell with the NWS.
The peak rain times are on Thursday evening and all day Saturday, Kittell said.
The highest temperatures over the next few days will be in the 60s with low temperatures dropping down to the 50s, according to Kittell.
There are concerns for the burn scars primarily on Saturday due to heavy bursts of rain, but Kittell said they were unsure how much of a threat there is.
Kittell said that the roads should be the center of attention for residents because of roadway flooding and potential traffic delays.
For Saturday, there are brief, strong winds expected.
Kittell emphasized that a lot could go wrong due to the heavier rains on Saturday and that residents should be on the lookout.
When asked if there is any advice for residents during the rainfall, Kittell said to allow extra time for their day.
“I think for Thursday and Friday, like Thursday afternoon through Friday, definitely allow for extra time if you have to make that commute into the city or just leave earlier, just plan on being on the roads a lot longer because there will be some increased traffic and potential closures between a lane or two on the freeway,” Kittell said during a phone interview.
He added there is potential for lingering showers on Sunday and a possible storm on Monday.
However, Kittell said there was no additional information about Monday’s storms at the time of this publication.
