This term is one of the most overused and misunderstood phrases in our current political lexicon and foreign policy/strategy. Excuse my simplistic views on this but I’m a simple guy and to me the goal should be to make GOOD deals, especially when lives are on the line and invading governments are claiming land that doesn’t belong to them, i.e., Russia and Ukraine and Iran and Israel.
Picture your next door neighbor moving into your backyard and then demanding to negotiate with you on how much of YOUR yard they get to keep and the chosen “deal maker” is going to allow them to keep an undisclosed portion of YOUR yard!
